Sarah is developing a broad commercial and civil practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ specialisms. She regularly appears in court in both trials and interlocutory applications, and undertakes a range of pleading and advisory work.

Administrative and Public Law

Sarah has a particular interest in administrative and public law. She is currently working as Assistant to the Inspector of the Iraq Fatality Investigations, Sir George Newman. More information on the Investigations can be found here. Sarah’s work with the Inspector has led to her developing particular expertise concerning the State’s obligations under the ECHR. Away from the Iraq Fatality Investigations, Sarah has significant experience of immigration and refugee law, including claims raising human rights and EU law issues. She has appeared in the Upper Tribunal and First Tier Tribunal in judicial review claims and immigration appeals. Sarah appeared in the Supreme Court in the high-profile case of Bull v Hall & anor [2013] UKSC 73, in which the Court considered whether a refusal to supply a room to a homosexual couple in a civil partnership constituted discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation.

Contract and Personal Injury

Sarah also advises on and appears in court regarding contract matters and travel and personal injury claims. Sarah’s work in these areas often involves focusing on jurisdictional disputes and cases involving conflicts of law, such as enforcement of foreign judgments and claims against foreign domiciled defendants.

Property (including landlord and tenant)

Sarah receives regular instruction in property disputes and has considerable experience in contentious matters arising between landlords and tenants, including claims for disrepair. She has appeared in the Property Chamber of the First-Tier Tribunal in service charge disputes. She also advises and acts in possession and forfeiture claims.

Sarah is willing to undertake cases pro bono where appropriate.
